Composition: Each 1 ml contains:

 Properties: 

Dipyrone (mitamizole) is mild pyrazolone non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The mechanism of action of dipyrone is thought to be similar to that of other NSAIDs: inhibition of the production of prostaglandins. it commonly used as an antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory. 

Dipyrone has been thought also have anti-spasmodic properties on the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract, which has been the basis for its common use in cases of mild colic. 

Indications: 

As spasmolytic in large ruminants, Horses, Dogs, And Cats: In catarrhal-spasmatic colic, intestinal constipation; in spasms of the uterine cervix during birth; for pains of urinary and biliary origin; acute gastric dilation accompanied by severe colic attaks; for allaying the irritability of the animals and preparing them for stomach lavage; in esophageal obstruction; in joint and muscular rheumatism. 

Target species: Horses, Foals, Cattle, Calves, Sheep, Goats, Dogs, Cats. 

Dosage and administration: 

Administer by intravenous injection or deeply intramuscularly injection. 

Horses and Foals: 0.5-1 ml Novadad/10Kg of b.w (20-50 metamizolekg of b.w). 

Cattle, Calves, Sheep: 0.5-0.8 ml Novadad/10kg of b.w (20-40 mg metamizole/kg of b.w).

Dogs, Cats: 2.5-5 ml Novadad/2.5-5 kg of b.w (100-200 mg metamizole/kg of b.w.

Administer Novadad 2 to 3 times daily for a maximum of 2 days or as recommmended by the veterinarian. 

In case  of Intramusscular administration the prescribed total dose is recommended to be devided and injected into multiple sites. 

Dipyrone Side Effects: 

  • The most common side effect for dipyrone is injection site reaction. These reacton usually respond to hot compresses and NSAIDS's. 
  • Prolonged use of dipyrone may cause bone marrow suppression (Leukopenia, agranulocytosis), animals receiving prolonged courses of dipyrone should be followed with regular CBC's. 

 

Withdrawal Time: 

Meat: 24 hours after treatment. 

No withdrawal period for milk is recommended. 

Contra-indication: 

  1. This product is contra-indicated when there is a history or presence of blood dyscrasia and bone marrow disorders. 
  2. Use with care in older animals or those suffering from cardiac or debilitating diseases. 
  3. these type of these drugs should be avoided or very carefully monitored in animals with liver disease, kidney disease or GI problems. 
  4. Dipyrone should be given slowly when used intravenously, Rapid administration may cause seizures. 
  5. Prolonged use is not recommended. 

Drug Interactions: 

  • Dipyrone should not be used concurrently with chlorpromazine due to potentially serious hypothermia. 
  • Dipyrone shoulb not be used in conjunction with phenylbutazone or barbiturates. 

 

Storage: Store in dry place below 30 C. Don't Refrigerate.
