Properties:
Vitamin E is necessary for many physiological functions. It is a cellular antioxidant and protects the vascular wall. Selenium is known to be essential for tissues respiration and is a protective against dietary hepatic necrosis. It is extremely active and is only required in minute amounts. Vitamin E enhances the action of selenium so both are required.
Indications:
Treatment and prevention of deficiencies vitamins E & selenium syndrome in Lambs, Calves, Foals and Horses including various manifestations of nutritional muscular dystrophy (white muscle disease) administration vitamin E + selenium to pregnant ewe may assist in the prevention of the deficiency syndrome of new born lambs .
Prophylactic indications
• On farms in known selenium-deficient soil areas.
• When diets low in vitamin E ,e.g. diets containing high levels of moist stored grain or maize silage.
• On farms where there is a history of vitamin E and\or selenium deficiency , as may be indicated by poor breeding performance , excessive transport stress , or nutritional muscular dystrophy (in young animals on turning out to grass) .
• To provide extra vitamin E during periods of heavy work –load (horses).
Therapeutic indications:
For the treatment of the various manifestations of nutritional muscular dystrophy (white muscle disease, nutritional myopathy) affecting cardiac and\or skeletal muscles, and associated symptoms.
Target species:
Horses, cattle, sheep, ewes, lambs& calves:
Administration and Dosage:
Prophylaxis: 1ml per 50 kg b.w., One injection at intervals of 3 months
Treatment: Injections may be repeated at weekly intervals if necessary.
Horses: Up to 20 ml administer by intramuscular injection only.
Cattle : Up to 15 ml administer by S/C or I/M injection.
Ewes : 2 ml per 45 kg after third month of pregnancy by S/C or I/M injection. (For protection of lambs against deficiency).
New born lambs: 0.5 ml repeat after 2-4 weeks if required by S/C or I/M injection.
Older lambs: 0.5 – 1.0 ml repeat after 2-4 weeks if required by S/C or I/M injection.
Calves: 1-2 ml per 45 kg bodyweight . Repeat after 2-4 weeks if required by S/C or I/M injection.
Contra-indications: Avoid over dose.
Withdrawal time: Meat : zero days, Milk : zero days.
Storage: Store in dry place below 30º C don't refrigerate, protect from light.
