Chlortetracycline hydrochloride ................. 250 mg

Pharmacological Properties
Chlortetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic with a very broad antimicrobial spectrum. It diffuses rapidly throughout the body and is eliminated slowly, maintaining effective concentrations. It acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit.
Target Species
Poultry, calves, and foals.
Indications for Use
In poultry, CHLORTETRADAD 25% is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including:
- Staphylococcus
- Streptococcus
- Clostridia
- Haemophilus
- Klebsiella
- Escherichia coli (E. coli)
- Pasteurella
- Salmonella
It is also effective in the treatment of Mycoplasma infections (chronic respiratory disease - CRD), avian spirochetosis, actinobacillosis, and chlamydiosis.
Contraindications
None known.
Undesirable Effects
No undesirable effects have been reported when used according to the recommended dosage.
Posology and Method of Administration
- Poultry:
1–2 g per 2 liters of drinking water daily for 5 consecutive days.
As a feed premix: 1–2 kg per ton of feed daily for 5 consecutive days.
- Calves and foals:
5–10 mg chlortetracycline per kg body weight every 8 hours for 4–5 days.
Overdose
No adverse effects are reported with overdose at the recommended dosage levels.
Withdrawal Period
Animals and birds should not be slaughtered for human consumption within 5 days following the last treatment.
