Pharmacological Properties

Amoxycillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin derivative with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It acts as a bactericidal antibiotic by impairing bacterial cell wall synthesis. Amoxycillin is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and has low toxicity.

Target Species

Poultry (chickens, turkeys).

Indications for Use

Amoxydad Forte Water-soluble powder is indicated for treating infections caused by amoxycillin-sensitive bacteria, including:

• E. coli, Pasteurella spp., and Erysipelothrix spp. infections in chickens.
• Pasteurella multocida infections in turkeys.

Contraindications

Do not use in cases of penicillin hypersensitivity.

Undesirable Effects

None reported.

Special Precautions

• For veterinary use only.
• Consult a veterinarian before use.
• Not for use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.
• Avoid use within 14 days of the onset of laying.

Dosage and Administration

• By body weight: 1g per 40 kg body weight daily for 3–5 days (equivalent to 20 mg amoxicillin/kg).
• By drinking water: 1g per 8 liters of drinking water daily for 3–5 days.

Overdose

No adverse effects reported.

Withdrawal Periods

• Chickens: 1 day
• Turkeys: 5 days

Store in a dry place below 30°C.
