Pharmacological Properties
Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum semisynthetic antibiotic. It retains the typical activity of penicillin against gram-positive bacteria while showing significantly enhanced activity against gram-negative bacteria.

Indications for Use
- Poultry: Treatment of bacterial infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Corynebacteria, Clostridium, E. coli, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Proteus, and spirochetosis.
- Large animals: Treatment of calf scour, pneumonia, calf enteritis, and septicaemia due to Salmonella infections and brucellosis.
- Lambs: Treatment of contagious foot rot and pneumonia.

Posology and Method of Administration
- Poultry: 1 gram per 5 liters of drinking water, administered for 4 to 5 consecutive days.
- Large animals and lambs: 10–25 mg of ampicillin per kg of body weight daily, administered for 4 to 5 consecutive days.

Withdrawal Period
Animals and birds should not be slaughtered for human consumption within 7 days after the last treatment.
