"Broad Spectrum Defense for Poultry and Young Livestock"
Composition
Each 1 g contains:
Chlortetracycline hydrochloride ................. 200 mg
Pharmacological Properties
Chlortetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic with a very broad spectrum of activity. It is rapidly distributed throughout the body and eliminated slowly, maintaining effective concentrations for extended periods. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, which makes it effective against a wide range of bacterial infections.
Target Species
Poultry, calves, and foals.
Indications for Use
In poultry, CHLORTETRADAD 20% is used to treat infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including:
- Staphylococcus
- Streptococcus
- Clostridia
- Haemophilus
- Klebsiella
- E. coli
- Pasteurella
- Salmonella
It is also indicated for infections caused by Mycoplasma (CRD), avian spirochetes, Actinobacillus, and in cases of chlamydiosis.
Contraindications
None known.
Undesirable Effects
None reported under recommended usage conditions.
Posology and Method of Administration
- Poultry:
1–2 g per 2 liters of drinking water daily for 5 days.
As feed premix: 1–2 kg per ton of feed daily for 5 days.
- Calves and foals:
5–10 mg chlortetracycline per kg body weight every 8 hours for 4–5 days.
Overdose
No adverse effects have been reported with overdose at recommended levels.
Withdrawal Period
Animals and birds should not be slaughtered for human consumption within 5 days from the last treatment.
