Pharmacological Properties
Amprolium is a synthetic anticoccidial agent from the pyrimidine derivatives. It works by mimicking thiamine (vitamin B1), which is essential for the metabolism of Eimeria species. By inhibiting thiamine uptake in the parasite, it effectively disrupts their energy production, leading to the elimination of coccidial infection.
Amprolium offers a broad spectrum of activity against most economically important coccidia affecting poultry and livestock.
