Piperazine citrate – 1000 mg (equivalent to Piperazine 360 mg)

Pharmacological Properties

Piperazine citrate is a well-established anthelmintic that acts as a neuromuscular blocking agent in nematodes, causing flaccid paralysis and allowing the worms to be expelled from the gastrointestinal tract.
It is effective against a wide range of Ascarid parasites in both poultry and horses. Due to its safety profile, it is suitable for use in young and pregnant animals.

Target Species

Horses and poultry (including chickens, laying hens, and turkeys)

Indications for Use

Pipridad® Powder is indicated for the treatment and control of:

  • Poultry: Ascaridiasis caused by Ascaridia galli
  • Horses: Parascaris equorum, Oxyuris equi, Triodontophorus tenuicollis, and Trichonema spp.

Its water-soluble form allows easy administration either via drinking water or feed. Routine deworming every 7–14 days is recommended to effectively break the life cycle of large roundworms.

Contraindications

None known.

Undesirable Effects

No adverse effects reported when used as directed.

Posology and Method of Administration

  • Poultry: 0.1 g per kg body weight (equivalent to 32 mg piperazine/kg), administered via drinking water or feed for two consecutive days.
  • Horses: 1 g per 3 kg body weight (equivalent to 110 mg piperazine/kg), mixed with water or feed.

Always follow the recommended dosage. Consult a veterinarian for guidance on herd or flock deworming protocols.

Overdose

No specific overdose symptoms reported under normal conditions of use.

Withdrawal Period

  • Poultry meat: Do not slaughter birds within 14 days of the last treatment.
  • Eggs: Do not use in layers producing eggs for human consumption.

Store in a dry place, below 30°C. Keep container tightly closed and out of reach of children.
