Pharmacological Properties

Rafoxanide is a salicylanilide anthelmintic with potent activity against liver flukes and certain nematodes. After oral administration, it is well absorbed and reaches peak serum levels within 24 hours. It has a prolonged half-life (approximately 4 days), ensuring sustained therapeutic effect. Rafoxanide is widely distributed in body tissues, particularly the liver, bile ducts, and intestines, which enhances its efficacy against tissue-dwelling parasites.

Target Species

Cattle, sheep, and goats

Indications for Use

Rafoxidad® 3% Suspension is indicated for the treatment and control of:

  • Liver fluke infestations in their mature and immature stages (Fasciola hepatica, Fasciola gigantica, Dicrocoelium dendriticum)
  • Blood-sucking gastrointestinal nematodes such as Haemonchus spp., Bunostomum spp., Trichuris spp., and Oesophagostomum spp.
  • Larvae of tissue-invading flies, including Oestrus ovis, Lucilia spp., and Hypoderma spp.

Its broad-spectrum efficacy and long duration of action make it an ideal choice for fluke and parasite control, especially in high-risk grazing systems.
