Pharmacological Properties
Magnesium sulphate acts as a gastrointestinal antacid, with up to 20% of an oral dose being absorbed, which helps neutralize hydrochloric acid (HCl) in the digestive tract.
It also works as a laxative and alimentary detoxifier, making it highly effective in treating ruminal overload conditions such as:
- Acute rumen engorgement
- Rumen acidosis
- Grain overload
- Engorgement toxemia
- Rumen impaction

Indications for Use
Magnesium sulphate is used primarily as a laxative and alimentary detoxifier in ruminants and camels.
It supports the treatment of digestive disturbances associated with overfeeding, acidosis, and impaction.

Posology and Method of Administration
Administer orally, either as a drench or via stomach tube, mixed with a generous amount of clean water:
- As a laxative: 1 g per kg of body weight
- As a purgative: 2 g per kg of body weight
