Pharmacological Properties

Chlortetracycline hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the tetracycline group. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Corynebacterium, as well as Gram-negative bacteria like Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, and Proteus. Additionally, it is active against Mycoplasma and Rickettsia species.
It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit.

Target Species

• Oral administration: large animals, pre-ruminant calves, dogs, and cats
• Intrauterine use: cattle, sheep, and goats

Indications for Use

Teteradad Bolus is indicated for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases caused by chlortetracycline-sensitive organisms, particularly:

• Respiratory infections
• Gastrointestinal infections
• Urogenital and post-partum infections

Its intrauterine use supports recovery after parturition and helps in placental expulsion.

Contraindications

No known contraindications when used as directed.

Undesirable Effects

No undesirable effects reported under normal conditions of use.

Posology and Method of Administration

Oral administration (daily for 4–5 days):

• Large animals: 1 bolus per 50–100 kg body weight
• Pre-ruminants: 1 bolus per 25–50 kg body weight
• Dogs and cats: 25–50 mg chlortetracycline per kg body weight

Intrauterine administration (every 48 hours post-parturition):

• Cattle: 1–2 boluses
• Sheep and goats: 0.5–1 bolus
  Treatment should continue until natural expulsion of the placenta.

Overdose

No adverse effects are expected in case of overdose when used according to recommended guidelines.

Withdrawal Period

• Do not slaughter animals for human consumption within 5 days of the last treatment.
• No milk withdrawal time is specified (if needed, adjust based on local regulations).

Special Safety Precautions for the Person Administering the Product

No specific precautions are required. However, it is advisable to wash hands after handling the product.

• Store in a dry place below 30°C.
• Keep out of reach of children.
