Ceftiodad Injection

Composition
Each 1 ml contains:

  • Ceftiofur (as hydrochloride): 50 mg

Pharmaceutical Form
Sterile oily injectable suspension for intramuscular or subcutaneous use

Pharmacological Properties
Ceftiofur is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to rapid bacterial death.

Following intramuscular administration, ceftiofur is quickly absorbed, achieving peak plasma concentrations within approximately 30 minutes. Due to poor oral bioavailability, it is administered by injection for optimal therapeutic efficacy.

Target Species
Beef and dairy cattle

Indications for Use
Ceftiodad Injection is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Bovine respiratory disease (BRD), including pneumonia caused by Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Histophilus somni
  • Acute postpartum metritis associated with ceftiofur-sensitive pathogens
  • Acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot) caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus

This product helps ensure rapid recovery, reduced economic losses, and improved overall herd health.
