Pharmacological Properties

Enrofloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic that exhibits potent bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as Mycoplasma species. It acts by inhibiting DNA gyrase, an essential enzyme for bacterial replication, making it highly effective in both localized and systemic infections, including those resistant to other antibiotics.

Target Species

Cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, poultry, dogs, and cats

Indications for Use

Dadtril 10% Injection is indicated for the treatment of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections of bacterial and Mycoplasma origin, including:

  • Pasteurellosis
  • Mycoplasmosis
  • Colibacillosis and colisepticemia
  • Salmonellosis
  • Secondary bacterial complications following viral infections, such as Bovine Respiratory Disease Complex

In cases of salmonellosis in unweaned calves, it is recommended to begin treatment with injection on the first day, followed by oral therapy on subsequent days.

Contraindications

  • Not recommended for growing dogs during the rapid growth phase due to potential joint cartilage effects.
  • Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones.

Undesirable Effects

  • No undesirable effects have been reported at the recommended dosages.

Posology and Method of Administration

Administer via subcutaneous injection:

  • Cattle, sheep, goats:
    • 0.5 ml per 20 kg body weight, twice daily for 7 days
    • In severe respiratory infections or salmonellosis: 1.0 ml per 20 kg body weight, twice daily for 7 days
  • Rabbits, dogs, cats:
    • 0.1 ml per 2 kg body weight, once daily
  • Birds:
    • 0.1 ml per kg body weight, twice daily for 7 days

Overdose

No specific overdose symptoms reported. In case of accidental overdose, monitor the animal and apply symptomatic treatment as needed.

Withdrawal Period

·         Meat (calves and sheep): 14 days

·         Milk: 48 hours

·         Not for use in exotic animals or birds intended for human consumption
