Pharmaceutical Form
Sterile injectable solution
Appearance: clear, yellowish solution free of suspended matter
Pharmacological Properties
Dexamethasone is a synthetic corticosteroid and a potent analogue of prednisolone. It exerts strong anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and gluconeogenic effects, in addition to a broad spectrum of hormonal and metabolic activities. Dexadad Injection provides rapid and effective relief in inflammatory and stress-related conditions in animals.
Target Species
Cattle, horses, dogs, and cats
Indications for Use
Cattle:
- Bovine ketosis: Dexadad Injection promotes gluconeogenesis, leading to rapid normalization of blood glucose levels within 6 to 12 hours (intramuscular) or earlier (intravenous). Acetone levels typically normalize within 24 hours. Improved appetite, behavior, and milk production are observed within 12 hours. Full recovery is usually seen within 3 to 7 days.
- Supportive therapy: May be used alongside appropriate treatments in cases of mastitis, metritis, traumatic gastritis, pyelonephritis, heat exhaustion, shipping fever, or pneumonia.
Horses:
- Effective in treating acute musculoskeletal inflammation such as bursitis, carpitis, osselets, tendonitis, myositis, and sprains
- Also indicated for laminitis and retained placenta, as supportive treatment after addressing the primary cause
Companion animals (dogs and cats):
- Can be used for inflammatory and allergic conditions including arthritis, fatigue, snake bites, or systemic stress responses
