Kanadad Injection

Kanamycin Sulphate Injectable Solution

Composition

Each 1 ml contains:

  • Kanamycin (as sulphate) 250 mg

Pharmaceutical Form

Sterile injectable solution.

Pharmacological Properties

Kanamycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against many gram-positive bacteria, such as Corynebacterium and Staphylococcus, and gram-negative bacteria including Aerobacter, Enterobacter, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Salmonella, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Bacteroides species show resistance to kanamycin.

After intramuscular injection, an effective blood concentration is rapidly achieved within 30 minutes, ensuring quick action against bacterial infections.

Target Species

Cattle, calves, horses, foals, sheep, poultry, dogs, and cats.

Indications for Use

Kanadad Injection is indicated for treating septicemia, mastitis, endometritis, urogenital and respiratory infections, salmonellosis, secondary infections following viral diseases, abscesses, and phlegmons.

It is particularly useful when microorganisms are resistant to other antibiotics. Kanamycin is bactericidal even at low doses, which slows down the development of bacterial resistance.

Cautions

Use with care in animals with severe renal impairment.
