Pharmaceutical Form
Sterile solution for injection. Suitable for subcutaneous (SC), intramuscular (IM), and intravenous (IV) administration.
Pharmacological Properties
Marbofloxacin is a synthetic bactericidal antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone class. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme essential for bacterial replication. It has broad-spectrum activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Pasteurella multocida, Mannheimia haemolytica, Histophilus somni, and Escherichia coli, as well as against Gram-positive bacteria, notably Staphylococcus species. Resistance may occur in Streptococcus strains.
Target Species
Calves.
Indications for Use
Treatment of infections caused by marbofloxacin-sensitive bacteria. Specifically indicated for respiratory infections in calves caused by Histophilus somni, Mannheimia haemolytica, and Pasteurella multocida.
Contraindications
Do not administer to animals with known hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or to any excipients in the product.
Posology and Method of Administration
For calves, administer 2 mg marbofloxacin per kg body weight (equivalent to 1 ml Marbodad 2% per 10 kg body weight) once daily. The injection can be given intramuscularly, subcutaneously, or intravenously for 3 to 5 consecutive days.
Overdose
Overdose may cause acute neurological symptoms. Treatment should be symptomatic.
Adverse Reactions
No severe side effects are expected at doses up to 3 to 5 times the recommended amount. Occasionally, subcutaneous or intramuscular injections may cause transient pain or localized inflammation without clinical significance.
Withdrawal Period
For calves, the withdrawal period for meat and offal is 4 days after the last treatment.

Incompatibilities
Do not mix Marbodad 2% Injection with other medicinal products.
