Composition

Pharmacological Properties

Oxydad-300 LA Injection delivers oxytetracycline, a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It targets common pathogens such as Bordetella bronchiseptica, Actinomyces pyogenes, Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., and Escherichia coli. Additionally, it is effective against certain Mycoplasma species, Rickettsiae, some protozoa, and Chlamydia species sensitive to oxytetracycline.

Its long-acting formulation ensures sustained therapeutic levels, providing effective control of infections with fewer injections, improving compliance and reducing stress in animals.

Indications for Use

Oxydad-300 LA Injection is indicated for the treatment and control of infections caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms in cattle and sheep. These include systemic, respiratory, urinary, and local infections such as:

  • Pasteurellosis
  • Pneumonia
  • Septicemia
  • Mastitis
  • Metritis
  • Keratoconjunctivitis (pinkeye)
  • Enzootic abortion control in sheep and cattle

Contraindications and Precautions

  • Not recommended for horses, dogs, and cats.
  • Avoid use in animals with renal or hepatic disorders.

  • Always employ aseptic injection techniques.
  • Do not use animal products for human consumption during treatment.

Posology and Method of Administration

Administer via single deep intramuscular injection:

  • Standard dose: 20 mg/kg (1 ml per 15 kg body weight) provides 3 to 4 days of effective activity.
  • High dose: 30 mg/kg (1 ml per 10 kg body weight) offers extended activity for 5 to 6 days.

This flexible dosing allows tailored therapy depending on the severity of infection and farm management needs.

Overdose

No known toxic effects at recommended doses. Monitor animals in case of accidental overdose.

Withdrawal Period

  • Meat (30 mg/kg dose):
    • Cattle: 35 days
    • Sheep: 28 days
  • Meat (20 mg/kg dose):
    • Cattle and sheep: 28 days
  • Milk withdrawal period:
    • Cow’s milk: 10 days
    • Ewe’s milk: 8 days
