Pharmacological Properties
Trypanodad is a chemotherapeutic formulation combining diminazene aceturate and phenazone, designed for the treatment of Trypanosomiasis and Piroplasmosis.
Diminazene is a diamidine compound that acts by interfering with the DNA synthesis of blood-borne protozoan parasites. Phenazone provides anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, enhancing therapeutic efficacy and improving animal comfort during infection.

Indications for Use
Trypanodad is indicated for the treatment of:
- Trypanosomiasis caused by:
Trypanosoma congolense, Trypanosoma vivax, Trypanosoma brucei
- Piroplasmosis caused by:
Babesia bovis, Babesia bigemina, Babesia ovis, Babesia motasi, Babesia canis, and other blood parasites
- Mixed infections involving Trypanosomes and Piroplasmas
- Resistant strains of parasites that do not respond to standard treatments
Trypanodad ensures a complete cure in cases of Trypanosoma congolense and T. vivax infections.
Contraindications
- Do not administer to animals with known hepatic or renal impairment
- Contraindicated in animals with hypersensitivity to diminazene or phenazone
Undesirable Effects
- Rare at recommended doses
- High doses may cause mild local reactions
Special Precautions for Use
- Dissolve the 7.87 g sachet in 42 ml of sterile water for injection to obtain a 7% solution
- If kept at room temperature, the solution remains stable for 5 days
- If stored in a cool, dark place, it remains stable for 14 days
- Administer by deep intramuscular injection in the neck or thigh muscles
- For doses exceeding 10 ml, divide into two separate injection sites to reduce local pain
Posology and Method of Administration
Deep intramuscular injection only
- Standard dose: 3.5 mg/kg body weight (equivalent to 1 ml per 20 kg)
- For infections caused by Trypanosoma brucei: 7 mg/kg body weight
- In resistant infections, dosage may be increased to 8 mg/kg

Overdose
Overdose may result in central nervous system toxicity, including symptoms such as ataxia and convulsions.
Withdrawal Period
- Meat: 28 days
