Oxytetracycline HCl – 200 mg

Pharmacological Properties

Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the tetracycline group, effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including:
Streptococcus spp. (hemolytic and non-hemolytic), Staphylococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Brucella spp., Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Corynebacterium spp., Escherichia coli, Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp.

It is also effective against Mycoplasma, Rickettsia, Chlamydia, and certain protozoa at higher doses.
Its excellent intestinal absorption and systemic distribution make it suitable for treating respiratory, digestive, and systemic infections.

Target Species

Poultry, calves, lambs, fish, dogs, and cats.

Indications for Use

Oxytetradad 20% Water-Soluble Powder is indicated for the prevention and treatment of infections caused by:

• Gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (aerobic and anaerobic)
• Mycoplasma
• Rickettsia
• Chlamydia

It is particularly useful in the management of:

• CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease)
• Spirochetosis
• Actinomycosis

Contraindications

None when used as recommended.

Undesirable Effects

No undesirable effects have been reported at recommended doses.

Posology and Method of Administration

Poultry

• 1 g per 2 liters of drinking water for 5–7 days.
• As a feed premix: 1 kg per 1 ton of feed daily for 5–7 days.

Calves and lambs

• 10–20 mg oxytetracycline per kg body weight every 8–12 hours for 4–5 days.

Dogs and cats

• 20 mg oxytetracycline per kg body weight every 8 hours for 4 days.
• Alternatively: 0.1 g Oxytetradad 20% Water-Soluble Powder per kg body weight every 8 hours for 4 days.

Fish

• 15 g Oxytetradad 20% Water-Soluble Powder per 50 kg of fish, mixed with daily feed for 10–14 days.

Overdose

No adverse effects are known in case of overdose under recommended use.

Withdrawal Periods

• Calves and lambs: 10 days
• Chickens and turkeys: 7 days
• Eggs: 1 day
• Fish: 21 days
