Composition

Each 1 g contains:

  • Sulphadimethoxine               400 mg
  • Trimethoprim                       80 mg

Water-soluble powder for oral administration through drinking water.

Pharmacological Properties

Dad-Methoprim combines two synergistic antimicrobial agents: Sulphadimethoxine and Trimethoprim. While each acts as a bacteriostatic, their combination produces a potent bactericidal effect. This synergy is particularly effective against multi-resistant bacterial strains, making it a reliable choice in the treatment of challenging infections.
The product acts against a broad range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially those causing respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases.

Indications for Use

Dad-Methoprim is indicated for the treatment of respiratory and digestive tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria in poultry, rabbits, and calves, including:

  • Colibacillosis
  • Salmonellosis
  • Pasteurellosis
  • Infectious coryza
  • Bacterial enteritis

It is also effective in the management of coccidiosis in poultry.

Contraindications

  • Do not administer to laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.
  • Avoid use in animals known to be hypersensitive to sulfonamides or trimethoprim.

Undesirable Effects

Side effects are rare when used at the recommended dosage.

Posology and Method of Administration

  • Poultry: 1 g per 2 liters of drinking water, daily for 5 consecutive days.
  • Calves and rabbits: 1 g per 20 kg body weight, daily for 5 days, mixed with water or feed.

Overdose

No adverse effects reported at the standard therapeutic doses.

Withdrawal Period

  • Meat and offal: 12 days
