Properties: The active ingreidient of LEVAMIDAD 300 Bolus is Levamisole the (L-Isomer of tetramisole) possesses a broad-spectrum activity against gastrointestinal and lung worms.Beside its effect on nematodes, levamisole has been found to possess immuno-stimulante effect.
Indications:
LEVAMIDAD 300 is highly effective against abomasal, intestinal and lung worms of cattle, sheep and goat including: Sheep: Stomach Worms: Haemonchus contortus, Trichostrongylus axei, Teladorsagia circumcincta. Intestinal Worms: Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Cooperia curticei, Nematodirus spathiger, Bunostomum trigonocephalum, Oesophagostomum columbianum, Chabertia ovina Lungworms: Dictyocaulus filarial. Cattle: Stomach Worms: Haemonchus placei, Ostertagia ostertagi, Trichostrongylus axei . Intestinal Worms: Trichostrongylus longispicularis, Cooperia oncophora, Cooperia punctata, Nematodirus spathiger, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Oesophagostomum radiatum. Lungworms: Dictyocaulus viviparous.
Target Species: cattle, sheep and goat
Dosage: LEVAMIDAD 300 Bolus to be given orally one bolus per 40 Kg body weight.
( 7.5 mg Levamisole per Kg body weight) in sever infestation repeat the dose after 2-4 weeks.
Contraindications: Levamisole is contraindicated:
· In lactating animals (not approved).
· Animals have significant renal or hepatic impairment.
· delay use in cattle that are stressed due to vaccination, dehorning or castration.
N.B. Levamisole is considered relatively safe to use in large animals that are pregnant
Adverse Effects: May seen in cattle include muzzle-foaming or hypersalivation, excitement or trembling, lip-licking and head shaking. These effects are generally noted with higher than recommended doses or if levamisole is used concomitantly with organophosphates. Symptoms generally subside within 2 hours.
Overdose: Symptoms of levamisole toxicity often mimic those of organophosphate toxicity. Symptoms may include hypersalivation, hyperesthesias and irri­tability, clonic seizures, CNS depression, dyspnea, defecation, urination, and collapse. These effects are best treated by supportive means, as animals generally recover within hours of dosing. Acute levamisole overdosage can result in death due to respiratory failure. Should respiratory failure occur, artificial ventilation with oxygen should be instituted until recovery takes place. Cardiac arrhythmias may also be seen. Emptying the gut and/or administering charcoal with cathartics may be indicated.
Withdrawal Time: Meat : 3 days from the last treatment .
